1: Set up your recurring schedule.

Log into Lesson Genie, then click on your name in the top right-hand corner of your screen. Select ‘Settings.’ Select your grade level and set your daily schedule with different subjects and times. You'll need to add these subjects in order to start adding resources to your lesson plans. [Or you can do this part later and jump right into step 2 if you want!]

2: Add resources to your lesson plans.

After your schedule is set, you can begin previewing resources to add to your schedule. Click "Home" to get to your lesson plans. Then choose "browse" or "find lessons" to start searching. When you find a resource you want, click "Add to Schedule." 

Then, you can adjust the date to when you want to start the lessons. Select or deselect each lesson you want to include in the unit. Click SAVE and the lessons in the unit will be added to your schedule starting on the date you selected. It’s pretty amazing!

3: Download your resources

Now you can download all of your resources for a whole week with one click! To download the resources for the week, click the pink DOWNLOAD button.

From here, you can download into folders for each day of the week or you can download the week’s resources by subject folders. You can also select which subjects you would like to download. You can even choose to combine everything into one PDF for easy printing.

After clicking the pink DOWNLOAD button, these resources will be added to your download folder on your device.

You can also choose to download individual lessons if needed. To do this, select the three dots at the top of the lesson box, and select DOWNLOAD LESSON MATERIALS. These will be downloaded to your download’s folder on your device.

Yes, you can add other plans to the Lesson Genie schedule! On your lesson plans, just click the empty subject box you want to add your own lesson to and select ADD CUSTOM LESSON. You can then add in any notes, hyperlinks, etc. Or watch a video on ADDING CUSTOM LESSONS here!

You can also create your own custom subjects, like Music, Art, or a second math block! You'll do that in settings under "custom subjects." Watch a video on ADDING CUSTOM SUBJECTS here!

If something comes up (like a snow day or sick day) and you just need to move one day of your existing schedule, you can click the 3 dots on that day and choose "Mark as Holiday" to shift all your lessons a day forward or skip those lessons.

If you know ahead of time that a day off is coming, you can set up blocked days inside your settings. Select the drop down by your name in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Next select SETTINGS. Then, you can select the pink BLOCK DAYS FROM YOUR SCHEDULE button toward the top of this page. Here, you can select days for the entire year ahead of time that you will not have class.

At the top of each day, you can also select the three dots and mark the day as a holiday. You will see a message at the top of the day that says, “Holiday/No lessons.” As you input units into your schedule, the holiday will automatically be skipped.

If you would like to move a lesson from one day to another, you can select the three dots at the top of the lesson box and select MOVE LESSON. You will then select the date that you will like it moved to. If you want the lessons after this particular lesson in the unit also moved over in subsequent order, you will select the box that says MOVE LESSONS FROM THE SAME UNIT. Yes! In addition to adding our built-in subject categories like math, reading, spelling, grammar & writing, you can add your own CUSTOM subjects (or periods) to your schedule.

Art, music, lunch, or things like a second math block are subjects you may want to create. 

Just go to the dropdown by your name in the upper righthand corner and choose "Settings." Then scroll down to "Custom Subjects" and create whatever you want!

Next, scroll back up to schedule preferences and add the custom subject to your schedule by choosing it with the "daily subject order" drop down.

Or if you prefer to read, follow these instructions:

1. Click "Home" to bring you to your lesson planning screen.

2. Click "Browse" or "Find Lessons" or click the core subject in your lesson plans that you want to find a resource for. Any of these will work!

3. Search by grade level, subject, and resource type or keyword.

4. Click the resource you're interested in to see a preview and description.

5. When you find the resource you want, click "Add to Schedule." You must do this part in order to download it.

6. Choose the start date you want for the resource and select or deselect any specific lessons to be included. Be sure to click SAVE.

7. Return to the Home screen and the resource will be on your lesson plans!

These activities probably won't add to your schedule because you have not selected a time on your schedule for this specific category. First, go to your settings and add the corresponding category to your recurring schedule. Be sure to hit save when you finish. Then, you can search again for these lessons and add them to your schedule.

Make sure you have added the resources to your schedule first.

Then, go to the "Home" screen to see your lesson plans and choose the week you want to download (must be within 3 weeks of the current week).

To download your resources for the week, just click the pink DOWNLOAD button!

From here, you can download into folders for each day of the week or you can download the week’s resources by subject folders. You can also select which subjects you would like to download. After clicking the pink DOWNLOAD button, these resources will be added to your downloads folder on your device.

 You can also choose to download everything into 1 combined PDF (by day or by subject).

If you just need one specific material, click that lesson on your lesson plan, and then click the name of the material to download it.

Yes! You can download entire units. It’s a great way to help you preview a resource and prep materials your way. But here’s the best part – you still get the real magic of Lesson Genie: our planning tool that breaks down those massive units into perfectly organized daily lessons. (Because nobody wants to spend their Sunday sorting through hundreds of pages!) It’s the best of both worlds!

To download an entire unit, first click on the resource you want to download. Then scroll down to the bottom of the list of lessons and look for the gray "Download Unit" button.

Yes! You can download and prep as many weeks as you need, or you can simply open Lesson Genie and download exactly what you need for today or for this week.
